1978 Northern Lights Candles founded by Andrew and Christina Glanzman. They produced original wax designs in their small Western New York workshop and marketed them at local art and craft shows. 1980 Expanded marketing to include prestigious art shows across the country, winning numerous awards for excellence in design and originality. Featured in many newspapers and magazines and appeared on The Today Show and P.M. Magazine. 1987 Expanded and relocated to new facility in Wellsville. First candles exported to Japan. 1989 Placed on the prestigious Inc. 500 list as one of the fastest growing companies in the United States. Number one selling candles in Japan. 1990 Won "Best Gift Import in Japan" at Tokyo International Gift Fair. 1995 Company stores expanded to 40 locations across the US and Canada. Additional 15,000 square foot warehouse and another office extension added. 1996 Built 10,000 square foot wax melting facility. President Andy Glanzman listed in directory of Who's Who of American Entrepreneurs. Staff increased to over 400 employees during the peak of the holiday season. 1997 Added Private Labeling Division and Home Decorative Division for upscale, designer candles. Plans made for additional 15,000 square feet for manufacturing. 1998 New division, Northern Lights at Home was started. Northern Lights Candles celebrates their TWENTY YEAR ANNIVERSARY. 1999 At Home Division signs its one hundredth Presenter in November. Construction began on 12,750 square foot production facility expansion project. 2000 Expanded manufacturing and warehouse facility to 20,500 square feet (that's 2/3 of a football field) and installed liquid wax holding tanks to increase efficiency in production. 2001 At Home Division becomes an official member of the Direct Selling Association (DSA) in December. Installed new automated manufacturing equipment to increase capacity and efficiency. 2002 At Home Division signs their five hundredth Presenter in December. 2003 Northern Lights Candles celebrates their TWENTY-FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY. |
