Candle Tip #1: Hollowed out mini pumpkins make great containers for votives and tealights! Place on glass plates to protect your table. Candle Tip #2: Use small jelly jars as candle holders. Fill halfway with rock salt and tuck in a tea light or votive. Candle Tip #3: Place a fat orange or yellow candle in a low bowl. Fill the bowl around the base of the candle with orange and black jellybeans or candy corn. For a larger display create a candle 'garden' on a platter, and fill the base with candy corn. Candle Tip #4: Hollow out a cavity in the top of mini pumpkins and fit tightly with a taper, for unique and inexpensive candleholders. Place on glass plates to protect your table. Candle Tip #5: Put a layer of faux leaves on a cake stand to catch wax drips and protect the stand, then place a variety of fall-colored pillar candles on the leaves for an attractive autumn display. Candle Tip #6: Place a pillar candle in the center of a fruit bowl and surround with acorns or potpourri. Candle Tip #7: Select perfect, shiny red delicious apples that sit flat and straight. Use an apple corer to remove the stem end of the apple to a depth of about 1/2 inch and fit tightly with a taper. Place on a glass plate to protect your table. Candle Tip #8: Create a striped pillar: Tape-off a design, apply spray paint in desired color. Candle Tip #9: Cut a hole in the top of an orange the size of a tealight and insert. Adhere cloves around the edge of the embedded tealight. Candle Tip #10: Add fall floral rings to your taper candles. Candle Tip #11: Use an artichoke as a candleholder: remove the artichoke top, open the artichoke by spreading the leaves, and cut the stem to fit inside a clay pot. Place a votive candle or tealight in the center and voila! |
