Candle Tip #6: Hurricane lanterns don't need a storm to be perfect for your next cookout. Simply add a votive candle or tealight to bring the lantern to life.

Candle Tip #7: With a minimum of fuss, you can use small terra-cotta flower pots and votive candles to magically illuminate your table, your backyard garden and your lawn.

Candle Tip #8: Scatter luminaria (bags with cut-out shapes weighted with sand and fitted with a votive candle) along the walkway to your door or through your garden to light your guests' way.

Candle Tip #9: To keep bugs at bay, use citronella candles in your luminaries or hurricane lamps.

Candle Tip #10: Large floating candles in the pool can really set the mood for your next party. Remove all flammable items from the pool and its edges first.

- Candle Decorating Tips for Fall-

Candle Tip #1: Hollowed out mini pumpkins make great containers for votives and tealights! Place on glass plates to protect your table.

Candle Tip #2: Use small jelly jars as candle holders. Fill halfway with rock salt and tuck in a tea light or votive.

Candle Tip #3: Place a fat orange or yellow candle in a low bowl. Fill the bowl around the base of the candle with orange and black jellybeans or candy corn. For a larger display create a candle 'garden' on a platter, and fill the base with candy corn.

Candle Tip #4: Hollow out a cavity in the top of mini pumpkins and fit tightly with a taper, for unique and inexpensive candleholders. Place on glass plates to protect your table.

Candle Tip #5: Put a layer of faux leaves on a cake stand to catch wax drips and protect the stand, then place a variety of fall-colored pillar candles on the leaves for an attractive autumn display.

Candle Tip #6: Place a pillar candle in the center of a fruit bowl and surround with acorns or potpourri.

Candle Tip #7: Select perfect, shiny red delicious apples that sit flat and straight. Use an apple corer to remove the stem end of the apple to a depth of about 1/2 inch and fit tightly with a taper. Place on a glass plate to protect your table.

Candle Tip #8: Create a striped pillar: Tape-off a design, apply spray paint in desired color.

Candle Tip #9: Cut a hole in the top of an orange the size of a tealight and insert. Adhere cloves around the edge of the embedded tealight.

Candle Tip #10: Add fall floral rings to your taper candles.

Candle Tip #11: Use an artichoke as a candleholder: remove the artichoke top, open the artichoke by spreading the leaves, and cut the stem to fit inside a clay pot. Place a votive candle or tealight in the center and voila!

- Candle Decorating Tips for Winter-

Candle Tip #1: Decorate candles with gold and silver star stickers or buttons.

Candle Tip #2: Embellish candlesticks with holiday-themed candles, then attach pretty bows. Note: an arrangement of 3 or 5 candleholders is more interesting than an even number.

Candle Tip #3: Use old metal trophies as holders for large pillar-type candles. Vary the heights and shapes of candles and trophies to create an interesting display. The metal looks especially good at the holidays, as it reflects the candlelight. The old patina adds character and interest.

Candle Tip #4: If you collect odd pieces of china or have pieces you'd love to use more often --put your treasures to good use as candleholders. Place tealights in antique teacups or on saucers, so as not to get any wax on your china.

Candle Tip #5: Place a pillar candle in the center of a fruit bowl and surround with potpourri.

Candle Tip #6: Pour sand in a jar and add a pillar candle, shells and a magnolia sprig for a coast-inspired holiday decoration.

Candle Tip #7: Tie cinnamon sticks around a pillar and secure with pieces of rawhide.

Candle Tip #8: Create a candy cane pillar: Tape-off a striped design, apply spray paint in desired color.

Candle Tip #9: For an inexpensive centerpiece, fill a paper bag (white or colored bags are available at your local store) with sand and add a candle to create a pretty luminary.

Candle Tip #10: Add winter-themed decorative rings to your taper candles.

Candle Tip #11: Tie candles together in cluster with holiday ribbon. Embellish with mini pinecones, pine clippings, etc.
